Inspirations in Indian Colors

You don't realize it unless you bother to observe - India is the most colorful country in the world. Actually we all know it say it all the time, but how much do we value it. With globalization, rather westernization, the one thing that we are losing out on and not observing are the colors of India. On the whole, with colors a lot more, but my concern today is about the colors and prints! There are many out there addressing the bigger concerns but I'd like to stick to this one.

It was while picking up colors for Rangoli that I realized that I hadn't seen these colors together for a very long time. And just then my friend Ritika complained about how there were no colors in the market. She had been missing bright red for a very long time, all her t shirts were suddenly greys and pastels! And I couldn't disagree! And with the whole winter collection in store, it gets even more difficult to get bright Indian colors.
It was while walking through the Istiklal street in Istanbul, Turkey, that i realized how much I miss India and why. There were thousands of commuters on that street that day but still I didn't find it as exciting as my visits to Crawford market in Mumbai. Our market is full of colors, be it our food or sarees, be it the plastic items sold on road or cushion covers, everything is so bright and colorful and love it!!!!

It's while shooting in Rajasthan that I enjoyed my stay the most - what colors!!! I went crazy shopping in the bylanes of Jodhpur and so cheap!!!! Especially visit a shop called Lalji's in Jodhpur - famous for everything!! Haha!!!

Now i have made an oath - as far as possible I'll only wear as many Indian colors as possible !!! And so Fusion Roots will only promote Indian fabrics and Indian colors....

Kathputlis!!!I just love them!! but now their place in our houses has been replaced by pastel wind chimes and i don't endorse that!!!!

The poor naked kid playing on the road with pebbles is so colorful that i couldn't help but wonder that where are the colors in my wardrobe!

My First Blog Ever

Hey!! This is the first time I am writing a blog and wondering what took me so long to accept the idea of blogging. I have always enjoyed writing ever since those times in school when I used to get yelled at or when my best friend was made to sit on the other bench or when I had my first crush or when I would fight with my boyfriend and so on. Writing has always been my way of calming down - expressing everything that is in there but somehow blogs never came to my rescue. I guess we can blame conditioning! I was so conditioned to pen down my feelings and keep them a secret that blogging never seemed to help.

But now is the first time that I have a real motive to make a blog. I own a newly-born brand which is in the process of growing and expanding and it's progress is something I will proudly like to share with everyone! FUSION ROOTS !! It is a fusion of everything from accessories to bags to utility products to garments but it is very sincerely rooted in India. We have tried to fuse in various designs and ideas from all over the world but the fabrics and techniques are very Indian! It's everything that I would personally like to buy and make and that's what actually inspired me to start this.

But the most special feature of this brand is the people who actually make it happen. Indian women who are extremely talented and creative but equally deprived are the (wo)manpower. They either stitch or paint or craft things at home or at our workplace and make every product with such detail and affection that you can see the personal touch. And I guarantee that this is what is going to make these things special! As special for you as it is for me!!!!

Soon I'll update my website details and few pictures !! Till then ... keep blogging!!
